Once our carbon reduction strategy has been put to work, we need to consider those emission which cannot be eliminated. For these we can offer a variety of carbon offset projects. These will offset or neutralise these residual carbon emissions. We will provide you with all the information you need to enable you to choose the offsets which best suit your business's needs and ethos.

We know, for example, that many companies are interested in high quality offsets at the best price, and don’t have much of a preference for project type, while others want a specific project type that somehow links to their brand/business ethos. Some desire a project with a story and others want to invest in offsets from a project in a specific geographic area. Our aim is to provide your business with a balanced choice although we do not compromise on the quality of our carbon offsets - we only deal in high quality carbon credits produced from certified or verified carbon offset projects.

Project Criteria
Our projects comply with the following criteria:
Real: Contribute in providing a long term solution to global warming.
Verifiable: Be independently verified for environmental integrity by a validated third party and so demonstrate that the promised carbon reductions are real and permanent.
Additional: The Projects must go beyond ‘business as usual' by showing that the project would not have happened without carbon credit funding. Provide a real time impact by reducing carbon emissions at the time you choose to offset.

The Gold Standard
The Gold Standard is a non-profit foundation under Swiss Law funded by public and private donors created in 2003 by a group of non-governmental organisations including climate change veterans WWF, SouthSouthNorth, and Helio International. It is governed by representatives of the NGO’s, governments, and the private sector. Gold Standard was created to ensure that carbon markets work for a long term climate solution and stimulate local sustainable development. Gold Standard projects exclusively focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency projects to reduce emissions at source. Today it is officially supported by 52 NGO’s worldwide.
The Plan Vivo Foundation is a registered Scottish charity, set up to develop and oversee the Plan Vivo Standard and System and lobby for Plan Vivo principles.
The Foundation’s charitable aims include:

Relieving poverty in developing countries through engaging rural communities in sustainable land-use projects;

Promoting environmental protection and improvement through biodiversity conservation and the restoration, protection and management of terrestrial ecosystems;

Advancing education and building local capacity through the transfer of knowledge, skills and resources to developing countries.
The Plan Vivo Foundation has the competence and responsibility to do the following:

Take all decisions on the registration and status of projects;

Annually review projects and coordinate third-party validation and approve verifiers;

Approve technical specifications and coordinate reviews by experts;

Issue Plan Vivo Certificates in respect of ecosystem services generated by projects and record all Certificate Issuances in a registry;

Review, update and develop the Plan Vivo Standard in consultation with stakeholders;

Maintain and disseminate clear and up-to-date information about the Plan Vivo System, Standards and projects;

Lobby for pro-poor, participatory approaches to forest management and land-use, where communities are involved in every stage of project design and delivery.
The American Carbon Registry (ACR) is a non-profit U.S carbon market registry that was founded by Environmental Defense Fund and Environmental Resources Trust in 1997.
ACR provides an electronic registry system designed to serialise and transparently track offset credits from projects around the globe.
ACR also publishes standards, methodologies, protocols and tools for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, which are all based on International Standards Organization (ISO) 14064.
ACR only registers project-based carbon offset tons that are real, additional, permanent and verifiable and comply with American Carbon Registry Standards.
Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) was established in 2003 as a voluntary greenhouse gas reduction and offset trading platform.
Market participants include major corporations, utilities and financial institutions with activities in all 50 United States, 8 Canadian provinces and 16 countries. The total program baseline covers 700 million metric tons CO2 - equal to roughly one-third the size of Europe's cap and trade programe.
