Project Type: A community based initiative
linking small–scale landholders to the
voluntary carbon market based on the
Plan Vivo system and run by EcoTrust. 

Project location: Bushenyi, Hoima
and Masindi Districts, Uganda 

Status: Registered Plan Vivo project.
Operational since 2003 

Verifier: Rainforest Alliance

Project Coordination:  ECOTRUST (Environmental Trust of Uganda).


ECOTRUST is a not for profit environmental conservation organization established in Uganda in 1999 and has a valued niche in ‘conservation finance’.

Project name: Scolel Té Plan Vivo Project. The project name means ‘the tree that grows’ 

Project type: Community-based sustainable land use project.
Verifiable CO2 sequestration / emission reduction
benefits are generated as a result of a range of land
use activities involving: 
• Afforestation and reforestation 
• Agroforestry 
• Forest restoration 
• Avoided deforestation 
In addition to carbon sequestration and reduction
benefits, the project delivers a host of environmental
and social co-benefits, including biodiversity
maintenance and poverty reduction.

Status: Registered Plan Vivo Project
