This is the second step in our Comprehensive Carbon Strategy and follows on from Education. Our Audit Methodology
We offer a tailor made Carbon Audit to accurately calculate your carbon footprint. Our Carbon Audit methodology and is accredited by the UK Government Quality Assurance Scheme so you can be assured that your carbon footprint is calculated in accordance with the highest standards and you obtain a consistent and accurate calculation of your business’s carbon footprint.
As part of our Carbon Audit we will produce a Carbon Emission Report to define and quantify the green house gas emissions of your business. By quantifying your businesses carbon emissions we can identify areas for immediate reduction and subsequent offset.
Our carbon audit provides a clear understanding of your carbon footprint and how this has been calculated. It highlights how emissions are spread throughout your organisation, which can identify potential areas to save money by cutting energy consumption.

Our Carbon Analyst will visit your organisation and work with you to undertake a comprehensive Carbon Audit to calculate your businesses carbon footprint. We will tell you what information you will need to provide us with and where you will be able to find it, to make the process of auditing your organisation easy and straightforward.
Step 1
Identifies all the direct and indirect emissions produced by your business, following the algorithm shown below:
The algorithm shown above provides an outline of the factors taken into account for the collection of data from your business. Once this data has been collected it is used to calculate your businesses emissions and expressed as tonnes of CO2 equivalent gases per year (tCO2e). As shown in the algorithm, numerous factors are considered and their individual rates of carbon dioxide emissions assessed to provide an accurate and detailed account of your emissions, in accordance with the UK Government Quality Assurance Scheme.
Step 2
In step 2 of our Carbon Audit we provide a detailed report on your businesses carbon emissions. Our Carbon Emission Report provides a breakdown of all the collected data and corresponding carbon emissions and includes visual aids to help illustrate the information presented. The chart below illustrates an example.
A robust carbon audit by Ecological Sense will ensure that a correct carbon boundary is set, unlike those contained in online calculators, we utilise DEFRA guidelines for reporting and provide a facility for year-on-year comparisons of each key business area and emissions group.
Reviewing the emissions date within the carbon audit will enable you to understand the areas that can be reduced. Once the carbon emissions of your business have been assessed and calculated we can proceed on to the next phase of our Carbon Management Strategy - The Reduction Phase
